two days of deliberations in accordance with Article 37 paragraph (h) of the
opposition Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC)
Constitution, delegates at the just concluded 6th APRC congress have
unanimously agreed on a resolution that include: That the National Executive
Committee shall engage Gambia government, ECOWAS, AU, UN and relevant
international organisations to ensure the safe return to The Gambia of former
President Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh.
The APRC membership also agreed for the National Executive Committee to engage ECOWAS, AU, UN and The Gambia Government to defuse and put immediate halt to the ongoing sale of the former president`s assets and ensure that all the assets and properties be immediately returned to avoid any further legal actions.
This resolution was made at the just concluded APRC congress held at Bwiam in the West Coast Region. It’s the first congress Yahya Jammeh was defeated in a presidential election in 2016 by coalition president Adama Barrow.
Delegates also agreed that the National Executive Committee shall engage The Gambia Government, ECOWAS, AU, UN and Relevant International Organisations to ensure that the order that frozen the accounts of the party and the seizure of vehicles, properties and assets belonging to the party shall be immediately returned to avoid further legal actions.
The resolution further called on the National Executive Committee to develop plans and strategies that outline detail programmes, activities and manifesto for effective and efficient operations of the party.
It was agreed that the National Executive Committee, shall setup a Constitutional Review Committee for the amendment of the APRC Constitution.
“The National Executive Committee shall engage The Gambia Government, especially the minister for Justice and Defence, ECOWAS, AU, UN and Relevant International Organisations for the removal of the soldiers who are currently unlawfully occupying the legal properties/residences of the former president Alh. Dr Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh situated at Kanilai and other places.”
“The National Executive Committee shall issue a declaration calling for an immediate resignation of the IEC Chairman who had openly admitted that he had achieved his goal by ensuring that the Former President Sheikh Alh. Dr. Yahya Jammeh vacated the office of the Presidency”.
“That the National Executive Committee shall engage The Gambia Government to immediately nullify all MOUs and agreements that are not to the best interest or deterring the socio-economic wellbeing and advancement of The Gambian people, including the security agreements allowing the foreign troops to occupy and unlawfully harass citizens within and outside Foni.”
The resolution also stated that the National Executive Committee shall engage Gambia Government to come out with a report on the death of Haruna Jatta during a peacefully demonstration at Kanilai, Foni Kansala.
“The resolution is hereby resolved and adopted on this 16th day of December 2018 at its Congress held in Bwiam, Foni Kansala, West Coast Region by the Congress delegates for onward implementation by the National Executive Committee without delay”.
