Thursday, March 26, 2009

Over forty-five Ahmadiyya believers from all the regions across the country over the weekend gathered at the Ahmadiyya central mosque in Tallinding for the third annual ijtema (conference).

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Fafanding Darboe spoke at length on the importance of the ijtema, adding that this is an annual event organised by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat for the propagation of Islam.

According to him, the fundamental objective of this ijtema is to bring together the Ansars (people of forty years and above) to discuss Islam and issues affecting Islam and making appropriate proposals and recommendations.

He further stated that the ijtema also serve as a forum for the discussion of plans and also as election ground for the position of Sadr.

For his part Ustaz Saeed Ill Jassan Shah, revealed that Ansarullah are people of forty years and above. From fifteen years to forty years are Khuddamul Ahmadiyya and from seven years to fifteen are Atfalul Ahmadiyya. These are the three categories in the Ahmadiyya men folk. Of course the women also have a similar ranking, he said.

He however stated that Ansarullah being the heads of the other categories are in charge of teaching and training the youths to become morally responsible and respectable citizens and to be able to defend Islam.

During the two day ijtema some of the issues discussed include the role of Ansarullah in Jamaat, Qasida, importance of prayers, child discipline, and marriage in Islam, which was lectured by various head experts.

He then urged the participants to conduct a step down training at their various regions to disseminate the information.

The forum was punctuated with quiz and speech competition in the area of importance of prayers, child discipline, hadith and Quranic recitation of which the following emerged winners: Sekou Dibba, Saikou Tanja, Adam Brown, Yayah Trawally, Ablie Balajo, Musa Kinteh and Sutaring Trawalleh.
