Andrew Jassey clinches Gunjur Kulukochi Anti-Malaria Marathon lead

Andrew Jassey of The Gambia Police Force emerged winner of the 2018 Gunjur Kulukochi Anti-Malaria Marathon race that was held in the Kombo South coastal town on Sunday.

The annual championship attracted athletes from Gunjur and other parts of the country for the daylong sporting event.

Jassey defeated Mustapha Jatta and Modou Sanneh; favourites  to clinch the 21 kilometers race. Mustapha Jatta came second while Modou Sanneh hit the third position. Sam Pierre Gomez finished first in the male 10 kilometers, Lamin Joof second while Modou Bojang came third.

Sohna Saho of The Gambia Police Force arrived first in the female 10 kilometers race followed her colleague Mam Jarra Drammeh while Merry Da Sylva finished third. Sulayman Touray of Gunjur Jujuba took the lead in the male 5 kilometers race followed by Ebrima Saidy and Sulayman Sanneh came third.

Isatou Jarra of Bundung took first position in the female 5 kilometers race followed by Binta Touray while Sierra Touray finished third.

Andrew Jassey received trophy, medal, and certificate and a cash prize of D5, 000 as the winner for the 21 kilometer race. Mustapha Jatta received medal, certificate and D4, 000 for  second place while Modou Bojang received medal, certificate and D3, 000 as the third place holder. Sam Pierre Gomez walked away with a giant trophy, medal and cash prize of D3, 000 as the winner for the male 10 kilometer race.

Lamin Joof received a medal, certificate and cash prize of D2, 5000 as the second place holder. Modou Bojang received D2, 000, medal and certificate as the third place holder while Sohna Saho bagged a trophy, medal, certificate and D3, 000, as the winner for the female 10 kilometer race and Mama Jarra Drammeh received medal, certificate and cash prize of D2, 500 as the second place holder.

Merry Da Sylva received medal, certificate and cash prize of D2, 000 as the third place holder.
