Alleged generator theft case continues

A prosecution witness, Birahim Reda, recently testified in the trial of one Ebrima Kujabi, accused of stealing a generator before Magistrate Gomez of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court.

Reda told the court that he recognized the accused and could recall what happened on 15 January 2015, when he came from Tallinding to a bakery at Kolomba Road in Serrekunda.

He said upon arrival at the said bakery, he saw diesel oil drops all over the bakery.

He asked one Sulayman, his worker at the bakery, about the generator and Sulayman told him that the accused sold it to the metal buyers.

He stated that the accused was his employee at the said bakery, adding that he asked Sulayman about the whereabouts of the accused.

He added that he called his brother, Musa Reda from Lebanon and asked him whether he liaised with the accused about the generator, who replied in the negative.

He later called another brother, Imad Reda, who came with a police officer and the accused was confronted by brother Imad, and said he sold the said generator to the metal buyers.

They went to the station and his statement was recorded.

The case was adjourned to 17 March 2015.
