Alleged gang rapists trial resumes

The criminal trial involving Muhammed Hydara and Balema Sohna resumed on Monday 23 October 2017, at the Basse High Court before presiding Judge, Simeon A. Abi.

The accused persons are alleged to have unlawfully had carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 18 years old on 12 June 2016, at Missiraba Mariama Village in the Upper River Region.

The prosecution led by State Counsel Lamin Jarju called one Aminata Danso, a farmer and a resident of Missiraba Mariama Village to testify as the second prosecution witness.

In her testimony, the witness recalled that on the alleged day of the incident, she was at home at about 7pm when the victim came naked without any clothes or underwear on her shouting for help.

The witness said the victim informed her that she was ganged raped by some boys whom she later identified as the accused persons.

The witness then identified the two accused persons in the dock as the names the victim mentioned allegedly raped her.
