The allegations of sacking Vice President A.N.M. Ousainou Darboe – a false story that just refuses to disappear from social media and even among Gambians for the past week are fatally false, according to the government’s spokesperson, Ebrima G. Sankareh.

Mr. Sankareh pointed out that some commentators have even given various reasons and theories to explain why the VP was reportedly sacked.

When The Point contacted the Mr. Sankareh, to verify the allegations, he was quick to rubbish them as a figment of the imagination.

According to Spokesperson Sankareh, “the allegations trending on social media that the VP, H.E. Ousainou Darboe is sacked, are fatally false tales orchestrated by rumour mongers and probably, elements out to create confusion and tension within the corridors of state power”.

“As far as I am aware and per the veracity of the Presidency, Mr. Darboe remains our legally appointed Vice President and he is busy serving his nation,” Sankareh said.
