United were on Saturday 28 October 2017 held to a goalless draw by Aljamdu
United in the opening game of the late Famara Gomez tourney sponsored by
Weeders Youth Development Association.
The opening game of the tournament was graced by a representative of the Upper Niumi National Assembly Member Kabiro Jatta.
In attendance was also a representative of National Sports Council chairman (Bori Darboe who donated a football to the sports committee).
The NYC representative, Sarjo Dibba, took the kick-off, and also present were representatives of the regional football association, Essau Sports Committee members and satellite villages’ sports committee members and representatives.
Kemo Ceesay, Chairman of Toubakolong Youth and Sports Development Association, thanked Abou Khan, regional football association president, Essau sports committee, Upper Niumi Development Association Diaspora chapter, members of the media and everyone that graced the opening game.
The tournament organised by Toubakolong Youth and Sports Development Association brought together 10 teams.
Group A comprises Toubakolong United, Aljamdu United, Pakau Penku United, Albreda United and Upper Niumi Development Association youth team, a team which comprises youth players selected across the region to establish a solid team that may represent the region in future tournament as well as strengthen the unity in the region.
Group B features Weeders United, Mbatang Killing United, Lameng United, Pakau Njogu United and Sika United.
In the fixtures, Albreda United will take on Pakau Penku United on Friday 3 November 2015 at the Toubakolong football ground.
Weeders United will lock horns with Mbantang Killing United on Saturday 4 November 2017 at the same venue while Lameng United will entertain Pakau Njogu United in the Sunday encounter.
