Baba F. Trawally, Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat in The Gambia have recently presided over their 43rd annual convention; Jalsa Salana which is organised to facilitate greater spiritual awareness among community members, strengthen ties and promote peace.

At the opening of the convention, Amir Trawally emphasised that the gathering is founded upon the pure support of truth and the propagation of Islam. “The key purpose of the convention is to enable every individual to personally experience religious benefit, to broaden their knowledge and to deepen their understanding of Allah the Almighty,” he said.

He said anyone who attends the Jalsa Salana should know that they have a moral responsibility to leave together as brothers and sisters, adding that it is true that while everyone’s needs cannot be fully taken care of, efforts are made especially by the hosts and the volunteers to take care of everyone.

“It is clear that what is expected of us during these three days is to spend our time in the worship of Allah the Almighty, supplicating to His name to send his blessing on our dear and beloved master the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammed Mustapha (SAW),” he said.

Amir Trawally also lamented that the passion to serve the guests of the promised messiah has put a student, a laborer, a businessman and a high official all in one level. “During these days, we are all requested to remember in our prayers his holiness Hazrat Khalifatul Masih, our beloved and dear motherland The Gambia, the entire sub region and humanity at large.”

Sulayman Saho, Central Badibou National Assembly Member and Fatou Jammeh-Touray, Governor of the Lower River Region both lamented the peacefulness of the Ahmadis in their communities.

They also applauded the contributions the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat is making in the development of the nations health and education sector.
