Monday, February 09, 2009
The criminal trial involving Mrs Fatou Jasseh-Colley, cashier at Arab Gambia Islamic Bank, continued at the Bundung Magistrates' Court before Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara.

She is alleged to have stolen various sums of money from the said bank while working as a cashier.

Testifying, Assistant Superintendent Omar Colley, told the court that the accused was an employee of Arab Gambia Islamic Bank, and on 8th December 2008 the Bank reported the alleged missing cash in the Bank being deposit received from NAWEC branch in Latrikunda Sabiji.

ASP Colley further told the court that the bank had made arrangements with NAWEC where the cashier Fatou Jasseh-Colley used to cash for NAWEC in the Bank. He added that when the money was received the transaction was stamped with a cashier's number which was assigned to the accused, but the said money could not be reached at the bank. He said they mounted an investigation with NAWEC personnel.

The case was at this point adjourned to 10th February 2009.
