Access Bank The Gambia on Friday presented thirty-nine bags of cement to Tallinding Annex Lower Basic School to support the ongoing construction of a dinning hall for the school.

The official presentation of the cement was attended by senior officials of the bank and the school administration.

Speaking on behalf of Access Bank management, Abdouramani Saye, Head of Retail Banking at the Serrekunda branch, said Access Bank as part of its core values for education, decided to give a helping hand to the school.

“Our relationship with the school is very good and we hope this will continue,” he said.

In receiving the materials on behalf of the school, Fatou A. Sagnia, Headmistress of the school, said the building of a dining hall and multipurpose centre is a good development.

“When we started the building, it went up to a stage we could not continue anymore and we decided to write to institutions like Access Bank and Trust Bank and luckily they answered to our call and they inspected the building and upon that they decided to give a helping hand,” she said.

Madam Sagnia expressed hope that the construction will be finished by September 2013.

The headmistress said further that the feeding programme of the school stopped due to the condition of the dining hall as it was not conducive and the WFP decided to stop its food supply to the school because of the condition of the canteen.

“I am very much impressed with Access Bank for their support and we are very grateful,” she said. “We are praying for the institution to go higher heights, while also thanking Trust Bank for donating D10,000 for the construction of the building.”
