Wednesday, February 14, 2018

Abuko United over the weekend beat Immigration 2-1 in the week-ten league fixture of the ongoing Gambia Football Federation women’s division one-league match played at the FIFA goal project at Old Yundum.

Abuko dominated proceedings for much part of the game and created some goal scoring opportunities but failed to turn them into goals. Immigration took the lead against the run-of play in the 12th minute when a quick counter attack saw midfielder Fatou Susso send a rocket shot that filed past Abuko United’s net-minder Matty Manga.

Mam Drammeh came so close to scoring but her powerful shot was parried away by Immigration’s shot stopper Berray Bojang in the 15th minute of the game.

Shortly after the interval, Abuko leveled in the 20th minute through Fatou Dukureh from a spot kick after Immigration’s defender Awa Kebbeh brought down Mam Drammeh in the eighteen-yard box.

Moments later, Abuko’s prolific striker Sally Ceesay was on hand to poke a rebound into the net in the 76th minute of the game to send their fans into jubilation.

Elsewhere, Red Scorpions beat Interior 2-0 at the FIFA goal project at Old Yundum while Armed Forces demolished Future Bi 8-0 at the same venue.

In the second division, Kinteh’s beat Brewulleng 2-0 at the Fifa goal project while Brikama United piped Jeshwang United 1-0 at the same venue.
