Foreign Trade Vocational College (SFTC) is a state institute under the
Department of Commerce of Shandong Province, an institution of higher education
and offering three-year full-time programs. Founded in 1964, it is one of the
earliest schools in China specializing in international business education, and
so far the only institution of its kind in Shandong Province. It also offers
various short-term part-time training programs, and serves as an e-learning
outlet for several universities, with recent focus on outsourcing training,
named as an Outsourcing Talents Training Base of Shandong Province. 2014 and
2016 witnessed the establishment of Tai’an Campus and an off-site campus in the
US. At present, over 11,000 students attend SFTC full-time.
With its highlight of ‘being International’, SFTC places focus on “foreign trade, foreign language, foreign transportation, and outsourcing”, offering 24 full-time programs. SFTC cooperates with universities at home and abroad for exchanges of students and teachers.
SFTC’s strength lies in its professional expertise in cultivating talents for international trade and foreign languages service. As an affiliate of the provincial Department of Commerce, it has been working in close partnership with foreign trade companies in the province and constantly upgrading its expertise in foreign trade. Always giving top priority to foreign languages teaching, SFTC boasts of a powerful faculty of 120 language teachers in English, Japanese, Korean, Germany, French, Russian and Spanish. Eight English teachers have received simultaneous interpretation training in the European Commission. Thirty percent of the foreign languages teachers have overseas study experience. Many are active in providing professional service like interpreting and language training to enterprises and government authorities.
SFTC boasts of numerous training bases on and off campus, focusing on foreign trade, international logistics, cross-border e-commerce, accounting, etc., breeding thousands of graduates who meet the exact needs of employers and can start their jobs without any pre-job training, therefore guaranteeing their seamless campus-to-career transition. The alumni enterprises, up to 3000 at present, serve as remarkable sources for teaching and training, offering expertise, training bases and opportunities and employment opportunities. A sound inter-dependence, mutual development virtuous circle among the College, enterprises and society has well been established.
