At
least 30 officers of The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) yesterday graduated from a
five-month intensive engineering training at Yundum Barack, they will be serving in the GAF engineering
department.
Brigadier
General Ramatoulie B.K Sanyang thanked the commanders who participated in the
training, saying there is need to consolidate on the achievements made so far
and improve on the weak areas identified, especially in engineering.
“This
is the fifth time in the history of the GAF engineers which makes today’s
ceremony most special. I recalled personnel ceremony cadre 04 around July 2018,
which was about 50 soldiers and it was a significant figure to both GAF
engineers and different platinum,” she explained.
Col.
Paul Arthur Gomez, Director of the engineering department thanked the trainers
for carrying the initiative, while urging the graduates to utilize the
knowledge gained. “I want you people to take responsibility. I heard that some
people take contracts outside without consulting your director and end up
having problems. We are not telling you not to have contract outside GAF but
you should discuss it with your director. You are trained to serve the armed
forces only. We are just accepting such because of our commitment,” he said.
The
graduates were trained on solar system, dumpy level for construction,
electrical wiring, plumbing, carpentry, welding and fabrication, and
construction technology.
