20th May Day Sports to take a different form

The 20th annual and traditional May Day Sports, organised by the Gambia National Olympic Committee GNOC will be staged in the form of sports jamboree. 

Slated to kick-off on Friday April 30th the week-long event will among others feature track and field events, ranging from sprints runs: 100 and 200metres; relays, tug of war, musical chairs, greasy pole.

This year’s edition will also witness a wrestling contest, volleyball tournament and football matches between Doctors and Lawyers (male) and Nurses and Teachers (female).

Women and Sports Conference, Sport Journalist Course and Solidarity Match will also take centre stage. The sports Banquet and Awards will wrap-up the commemoration on Saturday May 8th 2010.

Poinsport is informed that the first among a series of consultative meetings will be held on Tuesday 23rd February 2010, at the GNOC Olympic House.
