Suku Singhateh Positive of Food Self Sufficiency

As APRC NAMS Tour President's Farms in NBR

The current catch-phrase exhorting all Gambians and even non-Gambians alike to take up farming of some sort ascribed to the Gambian leader to attain food self sufficiency has surely become a success in the view of Hon. Suku Singhateh, National Assembly for Lower Baddibu. The NAM has just completed a two-day tour of farms cultivated for President Jammeh in the North Bank Region.

Hon. Singhateh, who led a delegation of National Assembly Members in his region accompanied by Governor Edward Seckan of the North Bank Region, visited a reported total number of 30 different farms cultivated for President Jammeh by the people of the region.

Hon. Singhateh, who is also the APRC Desk Officer in North Bank Region, is said to have initiated the idea of touring the farms in a bid to see the level of farming activity being done by the people of his region for President Jammeh.

Speaking to our reporter in the village of Mbamori Kunda, Lower Baddibu (NBR), the APRC Desk Officer for the region, Hon. Alhaji Ablie Suku Singhateh, revealed that the people of North Bank Region have already cultivated a total of 30 farms to give President Jammeh a harvest that's never witnessed in the 14-year APRC rule. The farms, he added included coos, maize, sesame and rice among other crops.

According to Desk Officer Singhateh, the people of his region are so impressed with the level of development in their region over the last 14 years that they're poised to give the President a bumper harvest that will be unprecedented in the history of the APRC party.

"The people have already cultivated farms to give the Gambian leader a harvest befitting his station. It will be unprecedented. The people of NBR have and will always be with President Jammeh. What we have seen on these farms is another manifestation of the love and support that the people of North Bank have for President Jammeh," said Hon. Singhateh.

For the Regional Desk Officer, the determination and the energy shown by the people of North Bank to farm for President Jammeh in grand-style could be justified by the 'limitless development' that the President and his party have brought and continue to bring to their living-rooms.

'The rural electrification programme, provision of safe drinking water, the faultless road network, the APRC General Hospital in Farefenni, schools and many more social amenities that I need not mention are glaring indication of the Head of State's love for the people of North Bank and we're poised to reciprocate.

We have and will always respond to the President's call for people to go back to the land as this will in no small measure ensure food self sufficiency in our country. We want to thank him for the support," he added.
