Gambia Tourism and Hospitality Institute (GTHI) Saturday certificated twenty
students from different hotels, who completed a two-week training on pastry.
Speaking at the certification ceremony, Dawda Nyang, GTHI director general celebrated the success of the students, saying that the skills they gained from the training would help them in their hospitality services. “We have been conducting such trainings for more than ten years. I urge all of you to make the best use of the knowledge you gained from this training.”
Bunama Njie from The Gambia Hotel Association (GHA) said the event was a laudable initiative and it is not the first time students are train on pastry. He said tourism has lot of benefits, saying that they are currently trying to work with the agricultural sector to help address Gambia’s entire reliance on some food stuffs.
Jihad Kazzem, the trainer said the training was important to the students and to the country’s hotel industry. “I am here as a Gambian to help my country to provide them with knowledge on pastry. I was impressed by their passion for the training.”
