A serious fatal road accident that occurred in
the early hours of Tuesday morning at Jafai village of the Naimina East
District of the Central River Region (CRR) has claimed the lives of two and
injured several others, The Point can authoritatively report.
Six
people including the driver of a Sprinter vehicle were reported to be in
critical condition and are hospitalised at the Bansang Hospital in CRR. One
Maimuna Sanneh, a staff of Bansang Hospital Eye Unit who sustained severe
injured has been referred to the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in
Banjul for medical attention, a source said.
The
vehicle our source in CRR added was coming from Kombo Brikama and heading to
Bansang. “The vehicle tyre got burst when the driver was believed to be
speeding. Therefore he eventually lost control of the vehicle which led to the
fatal accident,” our source said.
The
sprinter vehicles are among the vehicles that are highly used by passengers
going around Basse due to their speed.
The sprinter vehicles normally come and go from Brikama to Bansang twice
a day due to their speed.
