12 Countries To Participate In African Draughts Confederation Championship

The Gambia National Draughts Association will host 11 African countries as part of the African Draughts Confederation Championship and the Draughts World Cup qualifiers, slated from 13th to 22nd July 2009, at the Paradise Suites Hotel in Kololi.

The 12 participating countries include Uganda, Nigeria, Cameroon, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d'Ivoire, Mali, D.R. Congo, Guinea Conakry, Senegal, Mauritania and the host the Gambia.

The much anticipated championship will also witness the arrival of members of the Africa Draughts Federation (CAJD) delegation and technical team, and the international referees, World Draughts Federation (FMJD) delegation, team officials, observers and the press.

The championship which is sponsored by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Dabanani Electrical Enterprise Ltd, Paradise Suites Hotel, Total Oil Gambia Ltd, Africell and the African Draughts Confederation, is expected to have Sheikh Professor Dr.Alh. Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh as the chief patron of the occasion.

The Gambia National Draughts Association has a total of 20 affiliated vous/club members and was founded in 1970.
